Hello Future Buffs! Brad Kloha, one of our domestic admission counselors, recently shared that most of our office has hit the road in the US to start meeting all of you who are going to be a part of the class of 2023. But did you know we have admission counselors traveling across the whole globe?!
Over the months of August and September, I’ve been a world away from Boulder, visiting high school students in Southeast Asia and India. I love meeting you all and hearing about the super cool things you aspire to do and be, both in college and beyond. Connecting with you in all the places you know best is a busy, delicious (all the food, yum!), exhausting, and rewarding experience to say the least! And during the month of October, I am headed to China to meet even more of you!
We travel to you so that you feel comfortable and confident to speak with us about the questions and worries you have about applying to college. And trust me, we’ve been asked so many questions that we probably have the answer you’re looking for. And if we don’t? You can bet we’ll be doing the research necessary to get you the help you need. The college search process is an exciting time, but we know it can be confusing as well-- so the Office of Admissions wants to be sure that we provide you with all the relevant information so that you can choose the right school for you, and college fairs are a huge part of this. Read on for a couple of ideas on getting the most out of a college fair or high school visit!
Take a virtual tour
We know many of our international applicants won’t have the opportunity to see Boulder until you set foot on campus as an admitted first-year student. We recommend using the on our visit website, as well as following our social media accounts (@FutureBuffs) so you can start to picture yourself here, even if you’ve never been to Colorado before. You’ll get a feel for our beautiful Rocky Mountain landscape, and you’ll get to interact with other prospective students who are just like you!ÌýÌý
Get in touch with us
Regardless of where you are in the application process, we love hearing from you! Don’t hesitate to reach out and tell us that you’re going to be at our visit to your high school or at the local EducationUSA office. It’s nice for us to feel prepared to meet you and answer your questions, and we get excited that you’re excited! While the number of times you visit us/see us in person isn’t taken into account in an admission decision, it’s definitely beneficial for us to get to know each other as you navigate the application process.Ìý
Follow up with an email
Finally, many times our visits are brief at your high schools or we only get the chance to answer a few of your questions at a college fair. Then we’re whisked away to another school or to the airport to catch a flight to the next city. If you feel like you’ve left a high school visit with more questions than answers, send us an email! We are here to help you and we’ve pretty much heard it all, so we welcome your emails in our inboxes if more things have popped up in your college search that you’re curious about.
After being away from Boulder for 2 months, I’m excited to be home for 2 weeks before visiting even more of you so soon. I enjoy all of our conversations and look forwarding to meeting even more of you as you start applying to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú´«Ã½ÎÄ»¯×÷Æ·. I believe in you! Find your admission counselor here and know we’re always here to help.
