CAS Welcomes New Staff Members Lucy Lin and Hannah Palustre
Lucy Lin has joined the Center for Asian Studies staff since April 2023. Lucy鈥檚 role is Accounting and Grant Assistant. She also works as the HR Liaison of Center for Asian Studies and Teaching East Asia.
Lucy grew up in southern China and was a middle school teacher. She migrated to the US 30 years ago and holds an accounting associate degree from community college of Denver. Before joining 兔子先生传媒文化作品, she held various accounting positions in several mid-size companies. Lucy has been living in Colorado for more than 20 years and enjoys hiking and traveling.
Hannah Palustre majored in Communication at the Ateneo de Manila University and later finished post-grad studies in Environmental Journalism at Silliman University as a World Wildlife Fund scholar. She started her career as a features writer and assistant editor at BusinessWorld, a national daily in the Philippines, followed by a brief stint as Program Officer for Communications at Japan International Cooperation Agency鈥檚 (JICA) office in Manila.
She then pivoted to policy research and development, working with technocrats, government executives, and civil society groups to pass various legislative measures. Over the past decade, Hannah is proud to have successfully lobbied for reforms in agriculture, economic and fiscal policies, and financial inclusion in the Philippines. Her team has written policy papers tackling agricultural credit, fintech, insurtech, social enterprise financing, and most recently, tech startups. She has also edited several ESG/sustainability reports for various Filipino conglomerates.
She is an alumna of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), which had her spending time in Malaysia to teach schoolchildren about the environment. She also volunteered for Gawad Kalinga, a non-profit that aims to end poverty in the Philippines through community building.
Hannah moved to Denver with her husband in 2021 and is just starting to explore the activities that Colorado has to offer. While she loves traveling to Europe to experience the rich architecture, history, and scenic train rides, she believes Southeast Asia is the destination to beat when it comes to food and tropical beaches. In her free time, Hannah watches Korean romcoms and constantly searches for good coffee and delicious bread.
