June Gruber is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Colorado and Director of the Positive Emotion and Psychopathology Laboratory. She was previously an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Yale University before relocating to Boulder. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and B.A. in Psychology from UC Berkeley. Dr. Gruber has authored over 100 articles and chapters, and edited 2 books, that focus on mental health and positive emotion, with a focus on bipolar and related mood disorders. Her work has been recognized by several awards including the Association for Psychological Science鈥檚 Rising Star Award and the APS Janet Taylor Spence Award for Transformative Early Career Contributions, NARSAD Young Investigator Award, and Yale University's Arthur Greer Memorial Prize for Outstanding Junior Faculty.听

Dr. Gruber teaches courses on topics including emotion, affective science, psychopathology, and happiness and has created a free online course in Human Emotion available through听.听She has given a public听听talk on the 鈥渄ark side鈥 of happiness. She is the recipient of the 2020 UROP Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award, has a monthly column for young scientiss in听Science听Careers, and received an IMPART grant to co-lead a workshop focused on advancing underrepresented women in the sciences. Dr. Gruber is engaged in science outreach and dissemination of the science of emotions and mental health for students and the broader public, with a recent focus on the mental health crisis sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic.
