Growing up in post Civil War Spain, in the 1940 - 1950s, under Dictator Franco, a young girl tells her story. Schools were strict, parents well respected, the streets safe with police. She was raised by a close knit extended family from her mother's side. After her father's death, when she was eight, and with his inheritance she could have had the easy life she enjoyed while he was alive. However, the country's archaic inheritance rules along with greed from father's relatives prevented it from happening. Bright and perky though, she followed her mother's example of hard work and resilience, took things in stride and kept going.
