Tim Whiten: Tools of Conveyance

Tim Whiten: Tools ofÌýConveyance

August 17—December 18, 2021

Tim Whiten: Tools of Conveyance surveys 40 years of Whiten’s works on paper and objects related to his mark making practice. His pictorial language of gesture refers to and reveals physical and spiritual inscriptions people make on the world and on each other. In his body of work Whiten draws attention to different states of consciousness associated with rhythms of everyday work and activity. He is in dialogue with transformations reflected in traditions of ritualized behavior, many of which were inherited through family lines that can be traced back to Africa and Europe by way of the southern United States.
