Braun Voyage: Engineering State Tour

Next week I鈥檓 hitting the road, bringing CU Engineering to the farthest reaches of the state.

Monday through Friday, I鈥檒l cover more than 800 miles of Colorado with a small team of faculty and staff. We鈥檒l spend time in Durango, Alamosa, Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Longmont to meet with high school and community college students, teachers, and administrators, alumni and other advocates.

While I鈥檓 excited to see more of our state, this isn鈥檛 a pleasure cruise.

I鈥檓 on a mission to engage in conversations about the future of engineering right here in Colorado. I鈥檓 also anxious to learn more about how each of these communities is doing its part to drive our state鈥檚 economy, security and quality of life through STEM education.

I鈥檓 going out:

  • To tell young people across Colorado that engineering is the future.
  • To tell communities that, while CU Engineering might be located in Boulder, we want to break out of our bubble.
  • To tell alumni that we鈥檙e here to support you long after you leave this campus.

If you are an alum, I encourage you to attend one of our alumni happy hours: Thursday, Sept. 21 in Colorado Springs or Friday, Sept. 22 in Longmont.

Follow our progress on Twitter and . I hope to make this an annual event, so I welcome your suggestions for towns we should visit on our next tour.

Bobby Braun is dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
