Self-Accountability

self-accountability (n.): willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one's own actions, learning, goals, outcomes, and resilience

Let鈥檚 get down to business. How you approach this first week of school sets the stage for a successful semester. But what is success and how do you define it? To develop your own definition, consider:

  • What it will mean for you to be successful in achieving those goals.
  • What you know about yourself as a learner. What are your strengths? Identified areas for growth?
  • How you approach your work. When do you work best? Under what conditions?
  • How you have supported your own success in the past.
  • How you will meet your other needs鈥攎ental and physical wellness, sense of belonging, safety and security, economic, etc.
  • How this will help you construct your own professional narrative. Who do you want to become as a designer?

Once you have established this baseline, it becomes easier to identify actions and goals that will promote your own success.
