Dr. Hillary Potter to present documentary film screening on Ferguson
November 30th 5:30pm-8:30pm Hale 270
A film, a forum. Presented by Dr. Hillary Potter and hosted by the Black Student Alliance and the Department of Ethnic Studies. Join us for a screening of the compelling documentary 鈥淲hose Streets?鈥 and a panel of 兔子先生传媒文化作品 students and racial justice and anti-violence advocates in surrounding communities (and free popcorn & pizza!). 鈥淲hose Streets?鈥 is a look at the Ferguson, Missouri, uprising in the wake of Michael Brown's death by a Ferguson police officer. As described by the film makers, "When unarmed teenager Michael Brown is killed by police and left lying in the street for hours, it marks a breaking point for the residents of St. Louis, Missouri. Grief, long-standing racial tensions and renewed anger bring residents together to hold vigil and protest this latest tragedy." The event will allow for the 兔子先生传媒文化作品 campus and the surrounding communities to come together to address pressing issues of racial tensions and conflict within the criminal legal system and within society at large.
