The State of Colorado (State) personnel system for classified employees announced in November that the performance cycle for classified staff is shifting. For the 2022-2023 transition cycle year, performance management for classified staff will have several additional changes.听
听5-Point Rating Scale
In 2019 and 2020, the State heard from classified employees across Colorado through a series of listening sessions that they want an improved ability to grow in their career. Part of that feedback was that the current 3-point scale does not adequately capture the many contributions employees make. 听
As a result, the State moved to a 5-point rating scale starting with the creation of individual performance plans on April 1, 2022 for a transition performance cycle not ending until July 31, 2023.听
Classified Staff Competencies
Employees governed by the state personnel system must be evaluated on the following five core competencies as mandated by the State Personnel Director. These competencies have been updated with example key behaviors. View the 蹿辞谤:听
- Communication

- Accountability
- Job Knowledge
Probationary 90-Day Conversation
All new classified employees are on probationary status for their first twelve months. Probationary employees shall have a conversation about their job performance with their supervisor after completion of 90 days of their probationary period.听
As a reminder, the current classified cycle ended March 31, 2022. Performance plans will close out for the 2021-22 plan year using the existing 3-point scale. For additional information, connect with your supervisor or visit the performance page.听
