On October 17th, Campus Leadership announced a change to the parental leave policy employee eligibility. The change gives 12-month faculty, other nine-month faculty, university staff, and classified staff the ability to use parental leave at the start of employment effective on October 1, 2022. It includes a retroactive window for employees who would have been eligible under this new policy to retroactively receive parental leave benefits from January 1, 2022 to September 30, 2022.
HR is seeking HRL assistance to identify employees for retroactive leave benefit
Human Resources needs assistance in identifying and reaching employees who may be impacted by the retroactive leave benefit. If there are any in your areas, please have them reach out to Leave@colorado.edu.
Those eligible for retroactive benefit will receive a combination of the below repayments, up to six weeks total:
- For personal leave taken (vacation or sick): replenishing of leave balances
- For unpaid leave: repayment for unpaid time
- If less than 6 weeks was taken: employees will have additional paid parental leave to use in the first 12 months since the qualifying event
Each case will be treated individually to ensure the parental leave benefit is applied appropriately. Comprehensive leave information and resources can be found at /hr/leave.
