This email was sent to HR Liaisons on the 兔子先生传媒文化作品 campus
Dear HR Colleagues,
Similar to last year, campus HR will not be sending campus-wide communications related to performance management. Instead, we are providing you with communications you should tailor to your unit鈥檚 unique needs and send to the appropriate groups. 听Below is our latest update for you to edit and forward as you deem appropriate.
The final submission deadline to campus HR is March 15th.听
Useful tips for preparing and conducting effective final evaluation meetings
-
Review the employee's performance for the entire performance cycle, not just the last few months. Recognize that goals may have shifted substantially in 2020:
-
It was a challenging year personally as well as professionally
-
Consider how the employee demonstrated resilience and an ability to lean into challenges and shifts in responsibilities听听
-
-
Consider how the employee's accomplishments contributed to department goals and the university's mission. Focus on how they stepped up and helped out:
-
Ability of the employee to pivot and be agile to changing work demands
-
How did the employee advance our campus values
-
How did the employee demonstrate leadership and good judgement
-
How did the employee demonstrate the department or university core competencies听
-
-
Review any notes you have kept throughout the year regarding the employee's performance.
-
Speak with departments or individuals that the employee works closely with to capture feedback on the employee's performance (360 degree reviews).
-
Schedule the virtual evaluation meeting in advance and be sure that your meeting is free of interruptions and distractions by securing a quiet space.
-
Consider sending the final evaluation to the employee 24/48 hours in advance of the final evaluation meeting. This will allow for the employee to prepare and therefore create a more mutually conducive and effective meeting.听
-
Acknowledge that this year there were unanticipated challenges and take those challenges into account when considering final ratings.听
-
Consider including the employee's self-evaluation in completing your assessment of their performance. Please see the Cornerstone FAQ regarding how to complete self-evaluations.
We urge you to give this process the time it requires and remind you of the benefits of supervisors and employees having conversations together. These evaluation conversations are meant to better prepare employees to develop as professionals and to be able to address the work ahead.听
