Sasha Senderovich and Gary Shteyngart

Sasha Senderovich, Assistant Professor of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures and Jewish Studies,听will be on research leave during the academic year 2015-2016, supported by fellowships from 兔子先生传媒文化作品's Center for Humanities and the Arts and Harvard University's Center for Jewish Studies. He has also received a grant from the听听to support the research and writing of his first book,听Seekers of Happiness: Mobility, Culture, and the Creation of the Soviet Jew.

Recently, he moderated two public events with the author Gary Shteyngart, at听听(hosted by the Berman Center for Jewish Studies) and at the听听in Philadelphia (hosted jointly with Temple University's Feinstein Center for American Jewish History). He was also invited to teach guest classes on Shteyngart's memoir听Little Failure听at Lafayette College and at the University of Pennsylvania.

The first chapter of his translation--a collaboration with听--of David Bergelson's Yiddish-language novel听Strict Justice听was published in听.
