The听David Shneer Fund for Community Programming, Public Scholarship, and the Arts听supports all aspects of Jewish Studies public programming, bringing academics听and artists to Boulder for lectures, workshops, symposia,听performances, and other offerings, and ensuring that our community of learning is precisely that鈥攁 genuine听community, in which scholars, performers, students, and members of the public can learn, think, and grow together.听The Fund听honors the memory of our beloved friend听and colleague, Professor David Shneer, z鈥漧, who passed away in Fall 2020. One of the central beliefs animating David鈥檚 career was a commitment to building connections听between the academy and the broader world.听For him, this relationship-building was more than just one aspect of academic life among others. Rather, it stood at the heart听of his vision of what it meant to be a scholar, teacher,听and activist at a public university in the twenty-first century. To celebrate David鈥檚 memory and realize this vision, this fund has been inaugurated with a major gift from Eileen and Richard Greenberg, longstanding supporters of the Program in Jewish Studies, and close friends of David鈥檚.
