Gold-plated FormFactor dilution refrigerator chadelier with microwave components and SMA wiring installed.
The University of Colorado Boulder'sÌýMcRae Lab is an experimental research laboratory in the Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering department focused on materials and metrology for superconducting quantum device applications. Active areas of research include:

  • Microwave characterization of materials for superconducting quantum devices (such as qubits, sensors, and parametric amplifiers);
  • Development of novel metrological techniques for coherence measurements at millikelvin temperatures and single photon powers;
  • Investigation of quasiparticles, two-level systems, and other decoherence channels limiting superconducting qubits;
  • Optimization of the dilution refrigerator RF environment by crogenic calibration and low-power characterization of the microwave chain.

The McRae Lab is part of the international , and is closely affiliated with NIST Boulder's Ìýthrough the Boulder Cryogenic Quantum Testbed project.
