Fulbright Scholars at CU Music
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. This year, College of Music faculty and students won four of these prestigious grants:
Brenda M. Romero
Associate Professor, was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to teach a seminar at the Department of Music at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia focusing on the important issues to consider as the Department opens a master鈥檚 program in musicology encompassing all areas of music study. The Fulbright also allows Romero to do fieldwork on Matachines, her long-term transcultural research focus, in preparation for a book manuscript. Romero had another Fulbright in 2000-2001 to conduct research on Matachines throughout Mexico. Romero is one of approximately 1,100 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U/S. Scholar Program this year.
