����������ý�Ļ���Ʒ’s Grammy Award-winning Takács Quartet celebrates 50 years

“I find myself thinking about all our former quartet members—we wouldn’t be celebrating this milestone today except for them,” says first violinist Ed Dusinberre, recalling that the original quartet was formed by students at the Music Academy in Budapest, Hungary, in 1975. Adds second violinist Harumi Rhodes, “It’s a monumental moment and we’re approaching it with a sense of awe. I feel humbled. Yet, in another sense, for us it’s business as usual.” And much of that business takes place right here in Boulder.

• Alternative keyboard offers College of Music students greater reach: The College of Music has had an alternatively-sized keyboard on loan since April 2023. Recent graduate Abigail Terrill shares how the narrower keyboard is helpful, why it’s needed and what her thesis research found about the process of transitioning between pianos. 
• (Daily Camera): Middle school students recently met Luka Vezmar, a College of Music junior, who is tasked with combining the band, orchestra and choir students’ suggestions into a single piece, which will premiere at a November school concert. Platt band director Caleb Starbuck started the composer program more than 15 years ago in partnership with Professor of Composition Carter Pann.
• Associate Professor of Music Education Kelly Parkes was named a 2024-25 Faculty Leadership Institute (FLI) fellow. The FLI is dedicated to recognizing, nurturing and empowering rising leaders as they progress in their academic leadership journeys.
