Congratulations to Clarrisse Bosman (BM bassoon performance + BME ’24), selected to bear the university mace at this spring’s commencement ceremony! “What an incredible honor to represent our university and stand among such distinguished peers,” says the first-generation Latina who will also be the first member of her family to graduate from college. “This achievement is not just mine, but a testament to the sacrifices and unwavering support of mentors and friends.”

• Did you know? Materials from renowned Boulder-based blues musician Otis Taylor are now part of ����������ý�Ļ���Ʒ’s American Music Research Center archival collections. “Housing his work at the AMRC is the best way to give him the visibility, the recognition and the honor that he deserves, as somebody who has made major contributions to American music and culture,” says Austin Okigbo, interim director of the AMRC which supports the research, performance and preservation of all music of the Americas with a particular emphasis on music diversity from the United States. • On May 1, the ”—a German comedic adventure film (1921) directed by Ernst Lubitsch—with live musical accompaniment by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, a five-piece chamber ensemble that revives the repertoire of silent film orchestras. The orchestra is headed by Rodney Sauer who donated the Sid Grauman Theatre Scores Collection to our American Music Research Center—the collection includes thousands of musical scores intended to accompany silent films.
• Our American Music Research Center and members of the George Lynn family invite ����������ý�Ļ���Ʒ student musicians, both graduates and undergraduates who are planning to perform or undertake research related to Lynn’s music to apply for the annual George Lynn Memorial Award. • The Aspen Music Festival And School partners with ArtistYear to bring teaching artists to Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley each school year. For the 2024-25 school year, the AMFS is seeking string players, classical guitarists and vocalists/pianists who are interested in teaching artist work. AMFS ArtistYear Resident Teaching Artists are placed in both public school classrooms in Basalt, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs and in AMFS AfterWorks music education programs. and/or email education@aspenmusic.org if you’re interested! The application deadline is May 17.
