Dan Szafir

RECUV faculty member was named one of  for his work on human-robot interaction and human-computer interaction. Dan runs the A. Since joining the University of Colorado in 2015, he has quickly grown the IRON Lab as a collaboration between the ATLAS Institute and the Department of Computer Science. Dan was recently awarded a two-year $174,000 National Science Foundation CRII Award titled "." This work will address the challenge of designing robots that can be effective collaborators with humans in manufacturing, assembly, and repair situations by improving robot abilities to sense and respond to implicit human communicative behaviors. Dr. Szafir was also recently awarded a three-year $360,000 NASA Early Career Faculty Award titled "." This research will explore the design and use of aerial robots on-board the International Space Station, specifically investigating the design of robot control interfaces and robot signaling capabilities for use in space exploration missions.
