- Un intelectual en tiempos sombr铆os. Francisco Ayala, entre la raz贸n y las emociones (1929-1949). Editorial Universidad de Granada-Fundaci贸n Francisco Ayala, 2022. 382 pages. You can find more information about the book .
- Imperial Emotions: Cultural Responses to Myths of Empire in Fin-de-Si猫cle Spain. Liverpool: Liverpool UP, 2013 (Open Access edition available).听The book听reconsiders debates about historical memory from the听perspective of the theory of emotions. Its main claim is that the demise of the听Spanish empire in 1898 spurred a number of听contradictory emotional responses,听ranging from mourning and melancholia to indignation, pride, and shame. It听shows how intellectuals sought to reimagine a post-Empire Spain by听drawing on听myth and employing a predominantly emotional register, a contention that听departs from current scholarly depictions of the fin-de-si猫cle crisis in Spain听that largely leave the听role of both emotions and imperial myths in that crisis听unexplored.听
