Story behind the recipe: We learned to make these yummy Sicilian appetizers from my sister- in-law’s father Guiseppe Genova. Very yummy!

Description of the dish: A taste of the Mediterranean - Sicilian meat rolls grilled on a skewers. May be served as an appetizer or as part of the main meal.

This recipe makes 8 servings.

Time to prep: 20 minutes

Time to cook: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs top round steak ¼-inch thick
  • Onion
  • Bay Leaf
  • Olive Oil
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Romano Cheese
  • Raisins
  • Italian Bread Crumbs

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Pound steak to thin slices 4-inches x 4-inches
  2. Brush with Olive Oil and sprinkle with Italian Seasoning
  3. Sprinkle with Romano Cheese and 4 to 6 raisins
  4. Roll meat and place on skewer with an onion and slice of bay leaf between each roll
  5. Sprinkle Italian Bread crumbs over the skewer
  6. Grill over hot coals 6 minutes per side or until done

Recommended side dishes: Spaghetti or other pasta, green salad
