The CU-Boulder Summer Theatre Caravan will present a free public performance of the romantic comedy, "It Had To Be You," Aug. 27-28 in the Old Main Chapel on the CU-Boulder campus.
The performances begin at 7 p.m. both evenings.
"It Had To Be You" features the story of Theda Blau, a would-be actress, would-be playwright, would-be sex symbol and health food nut who seeks love and success in New York. Joining her is Vito Pignoli, a highly successful and emotionally unavailable TV director and producer on whom Theda sets her sights.
When Theda shares a cab home from a Christmas Eve audition with Vito and proceeds to hold him hostage in her apartment, the comedy begins. The New York Post called the play, "A cartoon of great dexterity and loving warmth" and "something of a comic miracle."
The play was produced by Craig Rosen and directed by Cheryl McFarren.
The CU Summer Theatre Caravan is coordinated by two doctoral and four undergraduate theater students from CU-Boulder. Since 1997, the Caravan has toured the state of Colorado during the summer performing theatrical productions and holding acting workshops for children.
Performances have already occurred this summer in the communities of Westcliffe, Gunnison, Salida, Montrose, Walsenberg and Denver. The Caravan also has conducted children聮s theater workshops in Westcliffe and Montrose.
