With the end of the semester in sight and the holiday season approaching, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to each of you for your work and dedication to the university over the past year. I am proud to say that because of your commitment and hard work, the University of Colorado Boulder has continued to grow in its ability to educate students, conduct research and serve the state of Colorado. We shine because of each of you, and your contributions continue to differentiate this campus as an outstanding place to learn, teach and work.

As a way to show that appreciation beyond just words, I am pleased to announce that the CU-Boulder campus will extend the university New Year鈥檚 holiday this year to include Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 as a university holiday.

All employees will receive eight hours of holiday pay for Dec. 31, prorated for part time. Employees designated as essential services personnel (who are required to work on Dec. 31), may choose an alternative day during December for this holiday.

If you are designated as essential services personnel, please make sure that you coordinate with, and receive the approval of, your supervisor in rescheduling your alternate holiday. Questions should be directed to the Division of Human Resources, Office of Employee Relations (x2-6893).

Thank you again for all that you do to make CU-Boulder excellent. Happy holidays.

Philip P. DiStefano, Chancellor
