Earth in a hand

Greetings to all of you lovely people! April is flying by and blessing us with beautiful warm sunshine, so celebrate听springtime with our super fun events this week. Earth Day is this Saturday so give your thanks to our planet. I am Sarah Ellsworth: IPHY major, Boulder native, and event connoisseur, writing to you from the comfort of beautiful 兔子先生传媒文化作品 on all of your weekly opportunities for community involvement, educational whatnot, and supreme fun. Wednesday, April 19

Just in Time Career Fair.听Career Services听brings you this spring鈥檚 biggest career fair, which will feature tons of companies looking to hire for positions before the end of the semester- particularly companies in the tech industry. Bring a resume, dress classy听and come to the UMC Ballroom between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to find the job you鈥檝e been waiting for. All are welcome and this event is totally free.

Peter and the Starcatcher.听Be sure to catch this fun and lively play in the University Theater听at 7:30 p.m. This is the story of how Peter Pan became who he was and how he got to Neverland, featuring pirates, adventure听and friendship. If you love university theatrical productions, then you鈥檒l want to see this latest one in a long line of fantastic plays. Tickets start at $19.听

Jazz Combos.听If, like me, you love swinging, old-time听big band jazz, then don鈥檛 miss out on Jazz听Combos in the Old Main Chapel from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring a date to this free concert to get your fill of culture and show off your good taste in music. These small combo groups pack some serious skill and play a great range of jazz.

Thursday, April 20

Campus Sustainability Summit and Awards Ceremony.听Come and learn about some of the latest and greatest sustainability initiatives here on the 兔子先生传媒文化作品 campus, which leads the nation in sustainability. From 9 a.m. to noon听in the UMC, you can attend the sustainability presentation, followed by a delicious lunch and award ceremony from noon to 1:30 p.m. Be sure to register online before you go!

Sexpressions.听The Women鈥檚 Resource Center hosts this incredible talent show and night of fun in UMC 235 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Sexpressions is a celebration of sex and gender featuring a number of talented performers including Denver cabaret Clocktower Clockettes. There will also be food, games听and friends at this free event, which is open to everyone.

Thursday Night Cruiser Ride.听Ever since 1992, Boulder has celebrates beautiful Thursday nights with a huge cruiser bike ride around the city. The cruiser ride celebrates the dawn of the warm season, and hundreds of people meet at Scott Carpenter Park at 7:30 p.m. The theme this week is hippies so dress appropriately! Make sure your bike is equipped with lights and don鈥檛 forget the bug spray.

Friday, April 21

Radio Prom.听With all of the cheesiness of prom, including the 90s music, Radio Prom is Club 156鈥檚 second chance at听prom for听you. Don your formal attire, secure a date, practice your awkward dance moves听and come to Club 156 from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will be food and drink and lots of high school flashbacks so don鈥檛 miss out!

Saturday, April 22 (Happy Earth Day!)

Badminton lesson.听Badminton is super fun, and if you don鈥檛 believe me than you鈥檝e clearly never tried it. To get on top of your game, join in the Rec Center鈥檚 free lesson听from 1 to 3 p.m. Grab a friend, solidify your skills, and show 鈥榚m all how it鈥檚 done. Equipment is provided.

Global Warming Demystified.听If you want to brush up on your knowledge of global warming and learn more about the science behind the reality, then come by Fiske Planetarium at 7 p.m. Expert听Jeffrey Bennett will be there to educate you, answer your questions听and inspire you to act in a more Earth-friendly manner. Tickets are $10.

Sunday, April 23

Yoga in the Dome.听Celebrate your body as part of the natural world today in Fiske Planetarium from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with yoga under the dome. 360-degree images of nature will be screened on the dome all hour long to enhance your meditation and yoga practice. Yogis of all levels and experience are welcome, but just remember to bring your own mat. Tickets are $20.
