Cup with toothpaste and brushesThe University of Colorado offers extensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance and cafeteria plans to faculty and staff. There's still time for employees to brush up on current benefits, set aside money for health expenses and enroll in new plan options before open enrollment ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 12.

Open enrollment

This annual opportunity allows听employees to听enroll in听and/or听change benefits for the upcoming plan year听beginning July 1.听If benefits-eligible faculty and staff do not take action before the open enrollment deadline, they will be automatically re-enrolled听in the plans they currently have. Please note employees who wish to keep their cafeteria plans, either a ) or a , must re-enroll this open enrollment period.

This year, CU is to faculty and staff: CU Health Plan 鈥 EPO is now called CU Health Plan 鈥 Essential Dental, and CU Health Plan 鈥 PPO is now CU Health Plan 鈥 Choice Dental. If no action is taken during the open enrollment period,听employees will be automatically enrolled in a corresponding plan at their current coverage level.

Each October following open enrollment, the university mails enrollees a large packet of legally required benefits notices, including听the University of Colorado Health and Welfare Plan鈥檚 Notice of Privacy Practices, a Medicare Part D Notice, a summary of the annual report for the University of Colorado Health and Welfare Plan and Trust, and an Initial COBRA Notice.

This year, enrollees can , which will be delivered to CU inboxes and stored in the portal for convenient future access鈥攕aving paper and reducing mailing costs.

Enrollees will continue to receive medical and dental plan cards and other items via mail.
