From Safe Spaces to Brave Spaces

Kick off the Spring Diversity and Inclusion Summit by joining in the discussion of the summit's One Read:听"From Safe Spaces to Brave Spaces."听Join presenter Brian Shimamoto 9:30鈥10:45 a.m. in the UMC Glenn Miller West Ballroom for听a conversation about creating brave spaces in order to challenge ourselves to have difficult conversations听around controversial issues. A follow-up discussion will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the same location.

A Path Towards Cultural Change: ODECE's Diversity Planning Process

Learn more about the听campus Diversity, Inclusion and Academic Excellence Plan during this informal session led by听Alphonse Keasley,听associate vice chancellor for Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement, and Alaina Beaver,听initiatives director of social climate strategy. The Fake News Phenomenon

Join听Elizabeth Skewes, chair of the Department of Journalism at听the College of Media, Communication and Information, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in the听听for a discussion of听the values that drive traditional news, as well as the impact of today's social media on news quality鈥攁nd whether "fake news" is really shaping public opinion. Assistant Professor Pat Ferrucci also will discuss听how fake news influences the broader media agenda.听

I Love Me Open House

Stop by the Women's Resource Center听()听 between听11 a.m. and 2 p.m.听for the annual I Love Me open house. There will be cookie decorating, Valentine's crafts and free food. Everyone is welcome!

Join panelists from the Colorado Rockies, Colorado Rapids and听Kroenke Sports & Entertainment for a听discussion about working in the field of sports. Topics include but are not limited to: how to get your foot in the door, networking, the skill sets sport organizations are looking for听and more. The panel, held from 10 to 10:50 a.m. in the , is part of the two-day Inclusive Sports Summit on campus.

Feeling creative? Stop by the Musuem of Natural History to听make a valentine and enjoy a sweet treat between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the BioLounge.

Join diversity consultant Nevin Caple for a discussion听about听best practices and policies for creating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) inclusive teams. The discussion will be held from 1 to 1:50 p.m. in the Dal Ward Touchdown Club overlooking Folsom Field.
