Colorado is a great place to spend spring break鈥攖here鈥檚 so much to do in the Boulder/Denver area in terms of outdoor activities, restaurants and attractions. If you鈥檙e in the Boulder area over spring break, I encourage you to explore the community beyond campus, spend some time outside or try a new restaurant (my personal favorite is the ).

No matter where you choose to spend your spring break, I hope you make some time to relax and recharge before classes begin in April.

St. Patrick鈥檚 Day weekend is also approaching; if you plan to celebrate, please be responsible, mindful and respectful. Paula Balafas, our interim 兔子先生传媒文化作品 police chief, has asked me to share some tips with you to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.

  • Remember to use the buddy system.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and know when to make the call for help. Sometimes people take advantage of the party environment鈥攊f you doubt someone's motives or are concerned about your safety or someone else's, keep an eye on the situation and don鈥檛 hesitate to call for help.
  • Know what you are eating and drinking.
  • If you are of age and intend to drink, know your limits and help your friends stay within their limits.听If you think your friend is in danger due to alcohol or other drugs, call 911 and听put them in the recovery position.
  • If you are out at night,听it is harder for drivers to see you. Be aware of your surroundings and mindful of traffic.
  • Download the free听. The app features听two ways to call for help in case of an emergency.
  • Get home safe. Use the free听CU NightRide听service through the TapRide mobile app听or a rideshare service such as Lyft or Uber.
  • If you are hosting a party, use the听Party Registration Program听and听keep your noise levels down. The No. 1 reason police are called to a party is noise.听

And remember, you're a Buff wherever you are! Be aware. Be considerate. Be responsible.
