The U.S. Department of Education鈥檚 Office for Civil Rights (OCR)听听a comprehensive review of current Title IX regulations as part of President Biden鈥檚听听on听鈥淕uaranteeing an Educational Environment Free from Discrimination on the Basis of Sex, Including Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.鈥澨

OCR plans to hold a public hearing to enable those who are interested to share their views. More information on the hearing will be available in the coming weeks and will be posted听at听the听.听After listening to the public and completing its review of the Title IX regulations, OCR anticipates publishing a notice of proposed rulemaking听to amend the Title IX regulations.听

Like other universities听and听colleges and K-12 schools听across the nation, the听University of Colorado implemented policy changes听in response to听amendments to听federal Title IX regulations听issued听in August 2020.听

Valerie Simons, associate vice chancellor and Title IX coordinator for 兔子先生传媒文化作品鈥檚听Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC),听led the systemwide implementation and chaired a听statewide committee听to provide recommendations听on new Title IX processes听to all of Colorado鈥檚 institutions of higher education.听听

鈥淲e want our campus community to know that we will continue to be responsive to changes in the federal regulations to ensure that the university is upholding strong policies, procedures and practices to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct and other forms of discrimination and harassment听included in university policies,鈥 Simons said.听

To assist听universities, schools,听students and others in better understanding OCR鈥檚 expectations with respect to compliance with Title IX and the 2020 amendments, OCR will also issue a new question-and-answer document in the coming weeks.鈥
