American writer, director, podcaster and former actress Jennette McCurdy will speak at CU in Macky Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7.

Tickets will听be $2 for students, $7 for faculty and staff, and $10 for the general public. , or in person on the 1st floor of the University Memorial Center on weekdays beginning on Oct. 31 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

As the best-selling author of 鈥淚鈥檓 Glad My Mom Died,鈥 a memoir detailing her life and rise to fame, McCurdy has opened up about her struggles as a former child actor and shared how she retook control of her life.

鈥淛ennette McCurdy is an extremely influential voice right now, especially to a Gen Z audience,鈥 said Veena Bhatnagar, chair of the Distinguished Speakers Board. 鈥淗er unique experiences with family dynamics, and overcoming struggles with mental health, are things the Distinguished Speakers Board believe will benefit the student body as a whole. Her book uses humor in a way that is relatable to all audiences, and we believe she will be a natural fit when speaking on the 兔子先生传媒文化作品 campus.鈥

Since retiring from her successful acting career, McCurdy has also gone on to write as a contributing author for the Huffington Post and the Wall Street Journal, as well as host the popular podcast 鈥淓mpty Inside.鈥
