From InsideEVs
BMW, like many other automakers, is looking to crack the solid state battery problem and get the technology to market (and in its EVs) quicker than the competition. The manufacturer entered a joint partnership to develop solid state batteries for automotive use with Solid Power, which is also working with Ford towards the same goal.
From JustAuto
Solid-state battery specialist Solid Power, Inc. has announced it has deepened its partnership with the BMW Group. Under an expanded Joint Development Agreement, Solid Power has granted the BMW Group a research and development licence to Solid Power鈥檚 all-solid-state cell design and manufacturing know-how.
From TopSpeed
Earlier this month, one of BMW's top engineers for its next-generation batteries think that we've reached the peak of what lithium-ion batteries are capable of. Any improvements from here on for the current lithium-ion batteries will mostly be focused on lowering their cost or improving their energy density. For us to truly meet our goals, the jump toward solid-state batteries is inevitable, and BMW is also on board with this tech.
