An historian specializing in both the United States and Latin America, Jessica Ordaz is a recent addition to the Department of Ethnic Studies at 兔子先生传媒文化作品 and to our associate faculty in Women and Gender Studies.
Students in the "Speak Up, Speak Out" course (WGST 3702) report that college aged men and women are at a higher risk than the general population to be sexually assaulted, and provide five specific things they should know, including links to resources.
Janet Jacobs, professor of women and gender studies and director of the Arts & Sciences Honors Program, was recently named Professor of Distinction. This title is reserved solely for scholars in the College of Arts & Sciences who have been recognized internationally for their research, and by their colleagues and students for their exceptional teaching and service work.
The newest addition to the Department of Women and Gender Studies, Dr. Maisam Alomar, has joined our faculty this semester as an assistant professor. Her research lies mainly in the areas of disability studies, cultural studies, and ethnic studies.
Nadia Brecl is a recent CU graduate, with dual degrees in sociology and women and gender studies, a minor in Ethnic Studies and certificates in both LGBTQ studies and public health. Nadia was nominated for the Van Ek award based on both their exemplary academic performance, and their commitment to issues of social justice in the campus community and beyond.
A double major in women and gender studies and international affairs, with minors in political science and Arabic, Mallory Hale was chosen for the Jacob Van Ek award for their 鈥渇lawless academic performance as well as the impressive work they have been doing to build an inclusive climate on our campus.鈥

The Women and Gender Studies Excellence in Inclusion Award recognizes outstanding student projects (research or creative works) that explore issues pertaining to diversity and inclusion. This year we awarded the prize to two outstanding students: Lauren Arnold and Selena Wellington.
Lorena Aguilera Santana, a double-major in women and gender studies and sociology, has been chosen as one of this year's Jacob Van Ek Scholars, awarded by the College of Arts and Sciences at 兔子先生传媒文化作品 for outstanding academic achievement and contributions to the university.
