Boom for Observation of Orbital Magnetosphere (BOOM)
Boom for Observation of Orbital Magnetosphere (BOOM)

Project Topic: Small Satellite Deployable Booms for Magnetosphere Testing
Description: BOOM will design a deployable boom and sensor payload that can mount to a CubeSat and enable low-noise magnetosphere data collection. Deployable booms have been used on space stations and interplanetary spacecraft, but their most common application is on satellites. Extending a payload or instrument away from the satellite itself helps to protect the satellite and reduce noise generated by satellite systems interfering with the payload.Ìý
