Burridge Trek

Last week, the Burridge Center for Finance at the Leeds School of Business led a group of 10 undergraduate and nine graduate students to Denver as part of its Finance Career Treks. The treks offer students the opportunity to witness the diverse career opportunities available in the finance industry firsthand.

The Denver Finance Trek featured visits to D.A. Davidson Companies, DaVita Kidney Care,听 EverWest Real Estate Investors, Industria Partners and Unicom Capital. Each firm shared information that provided students with further insight into what finance sector offers, including asset management, investment banking, equity markets, property and wealth management, to name a few.

According to Burridge Center Executive Director Roberto Caccia, 鈥淔inance Treks help our students assess the variety of career paths in finance and provides opportunities for students to network and pursue internships or full-time opportunities with participating organizations.鈥

MS Finance student Greg Mecca found the event highly useful. 鈥淵ou create innovative connections to business leaders,鈥 he says. 鈥淭he [Burridge Center鈥檚] commitment to educating students鈥攏ot just about business disciplines but also how business really works鈥攚as enlightening.鈥 Mecca also added, 鈥淎s an older student, I have been fortunate to be a part of many programs, but none of them have committed to the students in the ways [the Burridge Center] has.鈥

The Burridge Center plans two to three treks per semester, among other events to engage students. The next event will be the eighth annual Burridge Center Conference, Feb 27 & 28th. This year鈥檚 theme is Finance in a Sustainable World. Students are encouraged to sign-up, as space is limited.
