Obama Science & Technology Advisor to Launch New Speaker Series

On November 16, we鈥檙e launching the inaugural event of our CU Engineering Dean鈥檚 Speaker Series.

, President Obama鈥檚 science and technology advisor for all eight years of his presidency, will be joining us for a chat about the past, present and future of U.S. science and technology policy. Dr. Holdren is the longest-serving science advisor to any U.S. president and was a central member of the president鈥檚 senior staff, focusing on issues of energy, environment, nuclear proliferation, STEM education, our nation鈥檚 space exploration portfolio 鈥 and much more.

In Dr. Holdren鈥檚 own words:

鈥淚 look forward to coming to CU Engineering to talk about how the partnership of government, academia, and industry has, for many decades, advanced the public interest in economic progress, public health, environmental quality, national security, and expanding the frontiers of knowledge, and how the continuation of such progress is placed at risk if the government withdraws from this collaboration.鈥

The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the University Memorial Center鈥檚 Glenn Miller Ballroom and will include a Q&A with the audience 鈥 so come prepared with your questions. It is free and open to the public 鈥 RSVP here.

Aligned with Dr. Holdren鈥檚 visit to campus, we鈥檒l also be celebrating 15 years of Engineers Without Borders, which was founded right here at 兔子先生传媒文化作品. Its work now spans 46 countries and engages 16,810 members. You can  for a reception with Dr. Holdren to benefit EWB immediately after this Speaker Series event.

We鈥檙e honored to host John and show him around our college and campus during this visit, and I鈥檓 excited to have you join me for this special event on November 16.
