The Digital Media Center is an academic support center open to Environmental Design students, faculty, and staff. The center offers a multimedia classroom space, a professional photo studio, short-term equipment loans, one-on-one tutoring sessions for software and digital equipment, and large-format and 3D printing services. The space is designed to help students learn essential tools and methods in their journey as young designers in the ENVD program.

Current students can engage with DMC staff over the phone, email or in-person by visiting the center, located in rooms 305 and 306 of the ENVD building on Main Campus. They can also find guidelines, templates, and more information about specific work areas by enrolling in the . For large-format and 3D printing services, students can submit orders with our online platform, .

The DMC is located on the third floor of the Environmental Design building in rooms 305 and 306.

Monday - Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Checkout Center Operations

Equipment checkout
High-end digital devices such as digital cameras, studio lights, laptops and A/V equipment are available to students for short-term loans. Additionally, some studio drafting supplies, such as T-squares, rulers, pencils and markers, glue, and more are available for checkout.

Photo studio
Our professional photo studio is set up with a standard 3-strobe tabletop system and a DSLR with tethered shooting on an iMac computer and Lightroom. Students can make reservations for a 15-minute studio session (sessions can be reserved for up to 2 hours). 

Peer Tutoring Program

One-on-one software help
To help students practice new skills with computer-aided design (CAD) software, the DMC Peer Tutoring Program matches DMC student staff with students for one-on-one tutoring sessions based on their skills and what specific areas students are seeking support. Sessions are free to ENVD students and can be reserved by using our .

Large-Format Printing & Scanning

Large-format printing
Students can submit files for printing, from letter size up to 36 in x 48 in posters. The center houses two HP large-format plotters and one Epson premium photo printer.

Scanning
Large and small-format scanners are available, open to students to use on their own. Staff will provide guidance with settings and can show first-time users how to position paper and run the scanners.

3D Printing

Along with the Creative Labs Center, the DMC offers 3D printing services for quick prototyping. The DMC houses a range of fused filament 3D printers that can accommodate sizes up to 280 mm x 280 mm x 250 mm (11 in x 11 in x 9.8 in). Guides and templates for setting up files are available on the .
